About

Objectives

CREDIT’s main objective is to enable the circular remanufacturing of components and products, thereby promoting sustainable manufacturing and reducing environmental impact. These objectives are fully aligned with the Made in Europe innovation agenda.

The CREDIT project will address challenges in circular remanufacturing through a human-centred approach that is focused on:

  • The digitalisation of assets

  • Creating multi-layered Digital Twins

  • Developing an open-source Information and Communication Technology platform

The project will also integrate a range of remanufacturing-enabled digital services, including:

  • AI-based decision support systems

  • DLT-based traceability and quality control

  • Predictive maintenance

  • Support tools for remanufacturing operations, such as Augmented Reality

A comprehensive education and upskilling methodology will be developed to ensure an effective level of training and experience at the manufacturing site.

Impact

The CREDIT project’s impact will contribute to a more sustainable, efficient and socially responsible manufacturing industry, across a wide range of target groups.

Five business use cases, based on their relevance and potential for widespread impact have been designed in the following industries:

  • White goods

  • Automotive

  • Telecommunications

  • Aerospace

These use cases will serve as the basis for ultimately achieving TRL7, demonstrating the platform’s potential across numerous industries, and consolidated through a scaled replicability study.

Aligned with the EU’s sustainability and green manufacturing targets, the project will generate economic benefits through:

  • Improved efficiency

  • Reduced production costs

  • Increased competitiveness

While also reducing waste, lowering carbon emissions and minimising raw material consumption.

Horizon Europe

Horizon Europe is the ambitious EU research & innovation framework programme for 2021-2027 with a budget of €95.5 billion.

Its overarching goals are:

  • to strengthen the EU's scientific and technological bases and the European Research Area (ERA);

  • to boost Europe's innovation capacity, competitiveness and jobs;

  • to deliver on citizen's priorities and sustain our socio-economic model and values.

With a particular focus on creating impact or the European Green Deal, the digital and sustainability transition and recovery from the coronavirus-crisis.
